Britons hope for better luck
British hopefuls Danny Watts and Lewis Hamilton were left hoping for a huge change of luck in the Macau Grand Prix after failing to make a major impact at the front of the field in qualifying
Watts was the leading British driver, qualifying 16th, with Hamilton right behind him following the two crashes that marred his first day at Macau. But despite the relatively low positions, both drivers were hopeful about their chances of moving forwards in Sunday's double-header.
Watts said: "We've been improving the car all the time and there is definitely more to come from me.
"I am pretty sure that if I can keep it on the island in the first race then I would get into the top 10 for the start of the second race and then you can really attack it. My car is pretty consistent so that should be pretty good."
Hamilton added: "I just didn't do as well as I could. It was a confidence thing. I was pretty happy with the car but I was nowhere near the limit. I just didn't feel myself in that session.
"For the race I just want to finish. If I can stay out of trouble on the first lap then I should be okay."
Briton Andrew Thompson qualified 21st, while Rob Austin could only set the 25th best time following a hefty crash in the morning's free practice session.
