Asmer dominates race one

The Estonian took the lead at the first corner, ahead of Rodolfo Gonzalez (T-Sport), Atte Mustonen (Double R Racing) and Maro Engel (Carlin Motorsport).

Half a lap into the race, the safety car appeared so that marshals could clear up the wreckage of a first-corner accident amongst the midfielders. At the restart, Gonzalez and Mustonen got too close for comfort at Becketts and touched. Mustonen only lost one place, to Engel, but Gonzalez plunged all the way down the field and eventually retired.

The rest of the race was quiet at the front, with Asmer keeping a steady gap to Engel, who had the measure of Mustonen, who led Greg Mansell (Fortec Motorsport) by a safe distance.

Asmer's only scare came when he nearly spun exiting Abbey, but he pulled off an excellent save and stayed calm to the flag to secure the win.

Sergio Perez (T-Sport) was the National Class winner, ahead of newcomer Ernesto Otero (Double R) and Hamad Al Fardan (Performance Racing).
