Salvador Duran gets Aguri Formula E chance in Punta del Este

Mexican driver Salvador Duran will return to international racing to drive for Amlin Aguri in this weekend's Formula E race in Punta del Este

Aguri's regular driver Katherine Legge has to miss the Uruguay event due to a date clash with a United SportsCar test.

Duran was a race winner in A1GP and Formula Renault 3.5, and was also part of the victorious Ganassi line-up at the 2007 Daytona 24 Hours, alongside Juan Pablo Montoya and Scott Pruett.

The 29-year-old's last major programme was in NASCAR's Mexican series.

"I'm delighted with the opportunity to join the Amlin Aguri team and am very grateful to embark on this new venture with an exciting new team in a brand new sport," he said.

"[Team bosses] Aguri Suzuki, Mark Preston and the whole Amlin Aguri team have made me feel really welcome so far as a new member of the team."

DTM racer Antonio Felix da Costa continues in the sister Aguri car.

Team principal Preston added: "Salvador knows what it takes to succeed in a one-make championship and for Amlin Aguri that was a key factor in our decision to bring him in once we knew Katherine would be tied-up elsewhere."
