GP3's Alexander Sims and Mitch Evans join British F3 field for Silverstone finale
GP3 frontrunners Alexander Sims and Mitch Evans will both contest the finale of the British Formula 3 Championship at Silverstone this weekend
Mark Webber protege Evans will race with Anthony Hieatt's Double R Racing squad, which ran GP3 champion Valtteri Bottas at Donington Park last time out.
Sims, 23, who finished sixth in GP3 with Status this year after leading the championship early on, will drive for German squad Motopark Academy as he prepares for a return to the Macau Grand Prix in November.
"I haven't driven an F3 car for a year and have not worked with Motopark before, so no expectations - I'll wait to see what happens and plan to enjoy the experience," said 2008 McLaren AUTOSPORT BRDC Award winner Sims, who won a British F3 race at Silverstone with ART last year.
"I needed to do an F3 race in order to qualify for Macau, and this was my best option. Hopefully, having done two years of F3, I will quickly be able to get back on terms with the car."
Also joining the Silverstone grid is 17-year-old Brazilian Guilherme Silva, who will make his British F3 debut with Hitech Racing.
Silva is currently running second in the South American F3 championship with the Buckinghamshire squad's Brazilian satellite team.
