Wurz fit for Hungary
Alexander Wurz is set to race in next weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix, despite injuring his right leg during the last day of testing at Valencia on Saturday
The Benetton driver hit the tyre wall 10 minutes before the end of the day's session. The crash made the lower wishbone of the right front suspension pierce the monocoque of the car and cut into the Austrian driver's leg.
But, according to the BBC, a Benetton spokeswoman told Austria's APA news agency: "Alexander must rest for a few days, but he will be able to compete in Hungary."
Wurz has had a poor campaign so far and has not scored a single point in any of this season's races. Speculation continues that Jenson Button is being lined up to replace Wurz next term, so being fit to race and to try and score points is vital to Wurz's Benetton career.
Earlier this season, WilliamsF1 driver Ralf Schumacher cut his left calf after crashing at Sainte Devote during the Monaco Grand Prix. The German was fit in time for the Canadian Grand Prix - although he did have a two-week recovery period. With the practice sessions of the Hungarian Grand Prix just five days away, Wurz will be hoping that his wounds will indeed heal in time.
