Wilson gets Minardi outing

Justin Wilson's lanky frame may have prevented him from racing a Minardi this season, but the reigning F3000 champion is set to test an F1 car for the team

The Brit gets his chance to drive the car today (Sunday) at Donington Park, although he'll be in the 2001 PS01 that American Bryan Herta drove on Saturday.

"It should be good fun," he said. "I'm hoping that it stays dry. The weather's looking good and it would be nice to get some laps in the dry."

Wilson was offered a chance to drive for Minardi in the final races of this season, but was unable to take up the opportunity because he could not fit in the car safely. However, that was the PS02, which unfortunately is more confined than its predecessor.

"The car is obviously tight - it always is - but I do fit in. It's different to the 2002 car as it allows me to bend my knees some more. It's tight but it wouldn't be a problem for a race distance."
