Williams downplay Silverstone chances

Williams duo Mark Webber and Nico Rosberg are downplaying their team's chances for success in this weekend's British Grand Prix - despite a strong showing last time out in Monaco

Although the Williams FW28 appeared well suited to the tight and twisty Monaco circuit, the high-speed nature of Silverstone is likely to punish the car more this time out because other cars have better aerodynamic efficiency.

The team are planning to introduce some developments to their car to try and improve the situation, but Webber and Nico are not expecting an instant leap forward in pace.

Webber said: "Barcelona is not dissimilar to Silverstone and, based upon our performance there in the Spanish Grand Prix, we have a lot of improving to do.

"Unfortunately, our Monaco pace will have no relevance whatsoever to next weekend at Silverstone as it requires totally different characteristics from the car."

Rosberg added: "I don't think we are going to be as strong there as we were in Monaco, but I think we can still score some points.

"During the intensive test in Barcelona last week, we managed to improve many things, Cosworth, in particular, have made another good step forward with the engine ."

Williams have introduced modifications to their exhaust system in time for this weekend to ensure there is no repeat of the issues that led to Webber and Rosberg's retirements in Monaco.
