Webber won't dictate choice

The Australian was reprimanded by the Williams team before Christmas for calling into question the abilities of his former Jaguar Racing team-mate Pizzonia.

It has even been suggested that Williams is concerned about the relationship between the two drivers, although the team owner made it clear during a press conference confirming a sponsorship deal with Royal Bank of Scotland believed to be worth more than £60m, that it will have no bearing on his decision.

"I think Mark might be a little bit uncomfortable but if Antonio is the quickest driver we will do what is best for the team," said Williams.

Williams was quick to point out however that Webber has been a breath of fresh air to the team since he began testing in November and that his application and determination are first class.

"We haven't seen him race yet," said Williams, "but he is very liked and very much appreciated by everyone.

"He comes into the factory frequently one or two times a week and makes himself available. He takes his job very seriously. He was quick in testing but at the end of the day let's wait and see after a few races."
