Webber Confident of Competitive Weekend

Australian Mark Webber is looking forward to a competitive weekend after practice for the San Marino Grand Prix at the Imola circuit.

Australian Mark Webber is looking forward to a competitive weekend after practice for the San Marino Grand Prix at the Imola circuit.

"A good day today working with the team and Michelin," said Webber, who managed the 12th quickest time of the day with his Jaguar. "The boys have done a good job with the car and its pace and set-up in particular.

"I managed to complete my programme for testing and I am pleased with my timings. I like this circuit and I enjoy it so it makes my job a lot easier. With this in mind I will be looking to achieve a competitive position tomorrow for the grid on Sunday."

Webber, who has scored Jaguar's only point so far, was the fastest of the Ford-owned squad's drivers after outpacing teammate Christian Klien and third driver Bjorn Wirdheim, who were 16th and 18th quickest respectively.

Klien suffered a hydraulic leak which cost him track time in the second session, although the Austrian's mechanics fixed the problem and he could return to the track before the end.

"My times were consistently getting faster so I am pleased to be making progress here," he said. "I will be looking to do some more laps tomorrow since I missed out on a few today and see how much more I can improve in time for Sunday's race."
