Webber Aims to Make Life Tough for Title Men

Jaguar's Mark Webber hopes to make life tough for Formula One's title contenders after he qualified third for Sunday's Hungarian Grand Prix.

Jaguar's Mark Webber hopes to make life tough for Formula One's title contenders after he qualified third for Sunday's Hungarian Grand Prix.

"If it's a fair move and they've done it, then they will be coming through," said the Australian, who has Ferrari's Michael Schumacher, Williams' Juan Pablo Montoya and McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen lining up behind him.

"But if I'm in the position to block them or do something different, then I'll do it. The Championship's a long way off. We're not at Suzuka. I'm not too worried about the Championship."

Webber, with just 12 points from 12 races, is not in contention for the title, but Jaguar are fighting for their best overall position since their debut in 2000. The Ford-owned team are seventh, two points behind Toyota and three adrift of BAR in fifth place.

Michael Schumacher leads Colombian Montoya by six points in the Drivers' Championship, with Raikkonen a further three behind.

Saturday's qualifying equalled Webber's career best qualifying, matching his third-place start from Brazil. But that session was heavily influenced by rain, whereas the Hungaroring qualifying was on equal terms.

"On both occasions we ran quite late in the session, which is not a bad thing," said Webber. "I was really, really happy with today's lap and I can sleep well. Last year, I didn't really get on too well round here.

"We're going to fight hard tomorrow and try and stand our ground, but it's going to be tough," he added. "I doubt whether we will be the third fastest car in the race, but I will be happy if we are seventh or eighth fastest.

"If we can do that, it means we are going to get points. Clearly we are not going to be able to race with the Renaults, McLarens and Williams. They are going to be strong, but that's not our competition."
