We Have the Best Drivers, Says Head
Williams have the best possible pair of drivers in Ralf Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya, believes team technical director Patrick Head.
Williams have the best possible pair of drivers in Ralf Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya, believes team technical director Patrick Head.
German Schumacher and Colombian Montoya scored four wins to help the British squad finish in third place in the Constructors' Championship behind Ferrari and McLaren.
Despite Ferrari's Michael Schumacher winning the Championship in the past two years, Head says he would not change his current drivers for the four-time World Champion.
"BMW-Williams have two extraordinary drivers," Head told German magazine Motorsport Aktuell in an interview released on Tuesday. "If you asked team chiefs which driver they would like most, most of them would name Michael Schumacher. But I think that Juan is now as fast as Michael, and Ralf probably is as well.
"We couldn't have a better pair than Ralf and Juan. To be honest, I wouldn't swap any of them. Even if we were offered Michael, I would think twice," he added.
Ralf Schumacher, younger brother of Michael, scored three Grand Prix wins in 2001, while Montoya, who made his Formula One debut last season, won the Italian Grand Prix at Monza.
