Vettel: Brawn right to fear Red Bull

Sebastian Vettel hopes that Ross Brawn's fears that Red Bull Racing is uncatchable this weekend prove true - as he says it is time for a new winner in Formula 1

A raft of updates to Vettel's Red Bull Racing car helped the German top the times in British Grand Prix practice on Friday, and he and team-mate Mark Webber have usurped Jenson Button as favourites to win at Silverstone - with Brawn claiming the team will be tough to beat.

When asked about Brawn's comments about Red Bull Racing being uncatchable, Vettel said: "I hope so, and I hope he will say the same thing just in the past version on the Sunday after the race.

"The last six out of seven races they have been uncatchable so maybe it is time for a change, I don't know."

Vettel says the modifications to the car, which includes a new nose, engine cover and revised axles, have delivered a step forward in pace.

"Just prior to this race I have been in the factory and the people, they are really working flat out and pushing very hard to make the car faster and faster," he explained.

"Everyone is extremely ambitious to beat the Brawns. I think we have done another step here, it looks pretty promising, so let's see how it goes in qualifying."

He added: "I have to say the balance of the car is pretty similar, that is usually a good sign. We didn't gain grip on one axle in particular, and overall it is a step forward.

"It is always difficult because you cannot really test black and white, you cannot compare one part to the other as you haven't got time for any more testing. What we have seen is positive, it feels good but let's see in qualifying."
