Verstappen and de la Rosa Hope to Seal Arrows Deal Soon

Dutch driver Jos Verstappen's Formula One future should be sorted out this month, his manager Huub Rothengatter said on Thursday.

Dutch driver Jos Verstappen's Formula One future should be sorted out this month, his manager Huub Rothengatter said on Thursday.

Verstappen drove for Arrows last season, when he scored five of the team's seven points, and is negotiating to remain at the British-based team.

"At the moment we are just seeing what we can do. We are in negotiations with Arrows in trying to secure a deal and hopefully we can announce something in the next three weeks," said Rothengatter.

Formula One teams resume testing in December when a month-long official ban ends. Arrows have yet to confirm either Verstappen or Spaniard Pedro de la Rosa.

De la Rosa told the Spanish newspaper Sport on Thursday that he was confident he would be staying.

"We'll continue together, I'm sure," he said. "But I have to wait until the team says something officially. I've tested the 2001 engine and there is no reason for us to split.

"Of course I want to continue...obviously I'd like to be at Ferrari or McLaren but its also good to grow with a team, to be part of a long-term project and to see your ambitions growing," the Spaniard said.

A spokeswoman for Arrows said the team hoped to be able to make an announcement soon.
