Valencia, day 6: Happy Jacques
Jacques Villeneuve found a change to the BAR front wing to his liking and set a strong pace at the head of the timesheets in testing today (Saturday). A tweak to the front flap made the difference and his lap time of 1m12.952s was made more impressive as it was set during a race simulation
"The car's a lot more fun to drive than last year's." he said. "There's still more work to do but at least it's getting better."
Ralf Schumacher also covered a race distance, the Williams reliably completing 111 laps, although the German was disappointed to set a best lap three tenths slower than Villeneuve. Juan Pablo Montoya planned to run a race distance but the Colombian's running was interrupted by an another engine blow.
Olivier Panis stopped out on track at the same time as Montoya, the BAR driver also falling foul of an engine problem. Ryo Fukuda drove BAR's third car and the team allowed him to spend some time adjusting it to his tastes. In last year's 003 he did 93 laps and his time was just a couple of tenths off Panis' best.
