Trulli Fastest in Friday Testing - German GP

Italian Jarno Trulli topped a Renault one-two-three in Friday's testing session at Hockenheim as four drivers made their debuts for new teams ahead of this weekend's German Grand Prix.

Italian Jarno Trulli topped a Renault one-two-three in Friday's testing session at Hockenheim as four drivers made their debuts for new teams ahead of this weekend's German Grand Prix.

Jordan test driver Zsolt Baumgartner, of Hungary, and Minardi pair Nicolas Kiesa, of Denmark, and Italian Gianmaria Bruni all made their GP debuts in the two-hour session while Briton Justin Wilson drove for Jaguar for the first time.

Wilson made a steady debut for Jaguar and, after completing just 50km in the car since making his switch from Minardi after the last race, he completed 49 laps in a vital preparation session for his debut with the team.

His teammate, Australian Mark Webber, was the fastest non-Renault runner with a time of 1:16.887 and he finished nine tenths of a second faster than Wilson with the Jordans of Giancarlo Fisichella and Ralph Firman splitting the pair.

Baumgartner was the fastest of the rookies, but he finished 2.858 seconds off the pace of session leader Trulli and was ninth in the timesheets behind the slowest Formula One regular Jos Verstappen, of Minardi, who finished eighth.

Kiesa, in the second Minardi, finished nine tenths of a second slower than teammate Verstappen in tenth place and damaged his car in the dying minutes of the session when he ran over the kerbs at turn one.

Italian Bruni, driving the third Minardi, finished last of the 11 runners, some 1.6 seconds off Verstappen's pace and 3.791 seconds slower than the leading pace of Trulli.

Up front, Trulli finished 0.116 seconds faster than teammate Alonso with a time of 1:16.074. Scottish Renault test driver Allan McNish was third with a time 0.220 seconds slower than Trulli.

All three Jordan drivers suffered trouble during the session, with Baumgartner stopping twice, Fisichella spinning at turn nine and Firman losing control at turn 12.
