Trulli Aiming to Deliver Early Points

Italian Jarno Trulli today promised to make a solid start to the new season for Renault and deliver regular points after struggling to make an impression at the beginning of the 2002 campaign.

Italian Jarno Trulli today promised to make a solid start to the new season for Renault and deliver regular points after struggling to make an impression at the beginning of the 2002 campaign.

Trulli made a poor start after signing for Renault last year from Jordan, but the Italian believes he can begin the new season in a much better manner this time around.

"Last year I had a tough time at the beginning of the season," Trulli said at the launch of the new R23 car in Lucerne, Switzerland. "But towards the end I delivered some very good results.

"I feel very strong in the team now and I hope I can start to deliver straight away this season. I feel very confident and everyone is motivated."

Trulli, who will be partnered by Spaniard Fernando Alonso in the new season, said the new machine, which the team started work on in February last year, is "completely different" to the 2002 challenger.

"The team has been working hard over the winter, but we started very early on this car," he added. "The car is completely different, even if it looks the same now it will soon change because we will get a new aero package (for the new season).

"We hope to at least achieve as much as we did last year, but we won't know how good the car is until we get it on track and compare it with other teams."
