Toyota Wrap Up Three-Day Test at Paul Ricard

The Toyota Formula One team wrapped up today a three-day test at the Paul Ricard circuit with Frenchman Olivier Panis and Brazilian Ricardo Zonta driving the TF103.

The Toyota Formula One team wrapped up today a three-day test at the Paul Ricard circuit with Frenchman Olivier Panis and Brazilian Ricardo Zonta driving the TF103.

Panis, who finally scored his first point for Toyota at last Sunday's Canadian Grand Prix, worked at the French track today, completing the work started on Tuesday by test driver Zonta.

Panis worked on engine testing for the US Grand Prix, although a gearbox problem prevented the team from running in the morning.

"We had some technical troubles in the morning therefore we could not do as much running as we hoped, but after we have solved the problem, the afternoon went pretty well," said Panis. "I am happy that we have been able to complete the full distance with the new engine specification that we will use later in the season."

Zonta, meanwhile, drove on Tuesday and Wednesday, carrying out an intensive programme of tyre testing for Michelin. No times were issued by the Japanese squad.

"I am quite happy with the two days that I had at Paul Ricard this week," said Zonta. "We carried out a very intensive test programme with Michelin, checking and evaluating the characteristics of the tyres with different variables playing with the pressures, the weight distribution, car set-up, everything.

"We have seen some interesting results and collected a lot of data for future use. Overall, I am pleased that we managed so much running."
