Toyota struggling with set-up

Toyota's Austrian Grand Prix got off to a poor start, with both Olivier Panis and Cristiano da Matta struggling in first qualifying today (Friday) after problems with the set-up of the Toyota TF103

Panis was only 14th fastest in qualifying, with da Matta back in 16th. However, the Frenchman is confident that the team can cure its handling problems and qualifying in the top ten tomorrow.

"I am not really satisfied, to be honest," said Panis. "I think the performance this afternoon was acceptable, but we still have a lot to do ahead of qualifying tomorrow. I an not too worried though. I think we can still realistically expect a top ten grid position, which will put us in good shape for the race."

Da Matta had the disadvantage of not having driven at the A1-Ring circuit before, although the Brazilian reckoned the poor handling of his car was more responsible for his lack of pace. "I believe there is still something more I can get from myself on the track, but the main part is going to come from the car," he said.

"Since we started this morning, the set-up of the car just hasn't been working. Something with the balance of the car just isn't right. We haven't been able to find any representative improvements, so we have to keep trying."
