Toyota team boss Ove Andersson was pleased to have both cars crossing the finish line at today's United States Grand Prix.
Mika Salo and Scot teammate Allan McNish endured a troubled race, with the Finn suffering from a misfiring engine that was fixed thanks to the bi-directional telemetry. Salo went on to finish in 14th position while McNish ended up 15th after complaining of balance problems in his car.
Despite failing to shine in their first visit to Indianapolis, Andersson was happy to see both cars making it to the end of the race.
"It has been a difficult weekend, we had several problems that we have not had before," said Andersson. "On the other hand it was the first time that we have used the bi-directional telemetry in a positive way.
"We have to look at this race as a learning experience, and we have certainly learned a lot.
"This circuit is quite demanding, particularly on the engine, so a two-car finish is very good. Suzuka will be a busy race for us, but I hope we can give our Japanese fans a good result."
