Tost hopeful of customer car row solution
Scuderia Toro Rosso boss Franz Tost is hopeful the customer car row will be solved this weekend, as moves are made to find a solution in Bahrain this weekend
F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone made it clear in Malaysia that he wanted all teams to work together to find a solution, and a team principals' meeting is set to take place at Sakhir tomorrow morning to see if progress can be made.
Tost, however, has said he cannot predict how matters are going to develop - although he has suggested that expanding television rights money to all 12 F1 teams would be an acceptable compromise for his team.
"Hopefully there will be a solution for us and F1 in general," said Tost. "You never know how it will end.
"As far as I know from (Spyker boss Colin) Kolles, it's a matter of money. Normally 12 teams should get some money, not only 10, and if Bernie comes up with a solution whereby 12 teams get some of the prize money then we are fine."
Tost's suggestions of distributing money among all 12 teams is unlikely to have unanimous backing among rivals, however, with team boss Frank Williams known to be keen to keep the money solely for the top ten constructors.
"Okay, well if Frank doesn't want it - who can say who wants what in Formula One? That's always the difficult question," added Tost. "Team principals only think about what is the disadvantage in fighting for things. It's nothing new."
Tost has admitted that Spyker's action against his team, which included a protest in Malaysia and the launch of arbitration action, has not been taken lightly by his team.
"We have to pay attention to it because the topic is at an arbitration court - and there's troubles and work in front of us.
"If you have to go to arbitration, it's not the way we want to go racing. We want to do it on the racetrack. We received two weeks ago a letter from arbitration saying that Spyker went to court and we have 30 days where we can answer. Then we will see. We are preparing our arguments."
