Todt: Ferrari can beat Renault

Ferrari believe they still have everything to play for in the Formula One title race despite Renault winning five out of seven Grands Prix so far

"The playing field is very open," team boss Jean Todt told Reuters on Wednesday at an award ceremony for Ferrari parts suppliers at the luxury sports carmaker's Maranello headquarters.

"We started with a bit of a delay, but if we work together it is possible," he said. "We have a good team, a good car and good relationship with (tyre partner) Bridgestone.

"There are still 11 Grands Prix remaining."

Renault's world champion Fernando Alonso led the Monaco Grand Prix from start to finish 10 days ago to stretch his lead over Ferrari's Michael Schumacher to 21 points.

Ferrari are 28 points behind Renault in the constructors' championship before this weekend's British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

Schumacher, the seven times world champion who has won two races this year, started in the pitlane in Monaco after being stripped of pole position for deliberately obstructing rivals in qualifying.

Todt, who was critical of the stewards at the time, declined to revisit what had happened.

"That's in the past. We've turned the page," he said.
