Honda returned to Formula 1 last year with British American Racing, but has now expanded its supply to include Jordan. Doubling its chances for success or halving them? Autosport.com asked its F1 project leader this - and more



"The only difference is that we are going to support the chassis design for BAR and, except for this point, our supply will be just the same for Jordan."



"Yes. We want the two teams to have a healthy rivalry, and to improve through competition."



"No, I don't think so because the specification of the engines is completely the same. Of course, we have to make more engines, but I wouldn't say it's a lot of expense for us. Last year we supplied a quite different specification to Mugen [Jordan's engine tuner] than BAR, so this was very, very expensive because it was quite different. We built two different types of engine, so this year our expense is not as much as we're just building one."



"It's a very good question for us. The teams are completely separated, but the engine is the same. We have our own targets for this year's engine. I believe that through supplying two teams we will have more information which means our development can be faster. It's very, very helpful for us to have two teams to develop our engine."



"We will try as hard as we can. Based on our original plan, we knew it would be very difficult this year to achieve the top level. But, we want to be there as soon as possible, and now that the chassis regulations have been changed, perhaps everyone has a better chance of getting to that level. So we are very, very interested in the aerodynamics of our two chassis."



"It doesn't matter which team does it but we, as Honda, would like to finish third in the constructors championship. We also want to have a driver in the middle of the podium."



"While the outside of the engine is the same as last year, we have modified the inside to get more airflow, reduce friction et cetera. Overall, the performance will be better."



"Theoretically it's a very good way to reduce the centre of gravity. But the vibration levels and the packaging that goes with it makes that incredibly difficult. We are very interested in it."



"It is great for Japan to have a Japanese driver in F1 in some capacity. I hope he grows up quickly and develops well."
