Sutil plays down Toyota link
Adrian Sutil has played down suggestions that he could be on his way to Toyota later this season, even though he thinks he is ready to move to a manufacturer team
Toyota are currently pondering their future driver plans, with Ralf Schumacher's contract expiring at the end of the season.
And with sources claiming that Toyota could even make a driver change in the next few races if Schumacher does not turn around his disappointing form, speculation has linked Sutil with a move from Spyker.
However, with GP2 front-runner Timo Glock also believed to be in discussions with Toyota about a move for either this season or next year, Sutil has urged caution on talk of him entering the frame.
"At the moment, there is a lot of talking I would say," he told autosport.com. "Especially after Monaco, being P1 in free practice, it would obviously be a good step for me. But it is too early to say something.
"There is some interest from people at teams, who come around and say I am doing a good job. But there are no offers like: please come to my team. It is just a little bit of talking and by the middle of the season the negotiations normally start more."
Sutil has made it clear, however, that he does not feel that he needs more time to learn his way in F1 before the possible step up to a big team.
"I think I feel ready," he said. "There is a lot to learn always but I am sure that with a good car, or a better car, I will do a good job as well.
"You don't need to learn new stuff in racing, in general, you just need to adapt your driving with the new car. The speed will be different. I did three years of F3, and in the last two years it was at a really high level and there you need to do perfect races and perfect qualifyings. It is not a big difference."
