STR to decide on new car next week

Scuderia Toro Rosso will decide next week if they will introduce their new car at the Turkish Grand Prix as originally planned

The team's intention to race the STR3 at Istanbul has been thrown into doubt after Sebastien Bourdais badly damaged the car in a crash during testing at Barcelona in Spain last week.

That accident has left Toro Rosso short of spare parts and means that they may have to stick with their current car for at least another race.

Toro Rosso team co-owner Gerhard Berger told autosport.com: "We are still trying to get the car for Turkey but after the crash last week, it puts us further back than we've been already. But I wouldn't say that's the main problem - I think we are just very late with parts."

The Italian outfit's plans for introducing the new car are further complicated by the fact that the race after Turkey is Monaco, where there is a high chance of a car being involved in an accident.

Berger conceded that if the STR3 did not run in Turkey then it was actually more likely it would only race in Canada for the first time.

"Monaco is a question - do you bring the new car there? If you're unlucky, you can end up with no car at the end of the week.

"Maybe there would be room to consider Canada. There would be no problem in getting parts to Montreal, but it's still the worst-case scenario.

"We will make a decision on Turkey at the end of next week."
