Silverstone, day 3: Monty fastest
Williams-BMW title challenger Juan Pablo Montoya was fastest on the final day of testing at Silverstone today (Thursday), but Jordan's Ralph Firman failed to run fuelling rumours that he suffered a reaction after driving yesterday
Montoya lapped in 1m20.006s at the home of the British GP, slower than he managed yesterday. Williams' test driver Marc Gene was second fastest, setting his fastest time of the three-day test.
Firman, who completed just 26 laps yesterday, had been scheduled to run again today, but Zsolt Baumgartner replaced him once again. The Hungarian managed 50 laps but was still two-tenths off the time Firman managed yesterday.
Firman has struggled to regain fitness after his Hungarian GP practice shunt, and was rumoured to have felt unwell after his run yesterday, casting doubt over his participation in the US GP at Indianapolis next weekend.
