Sergio Perez and Jenson Button confident of F1 2014 McLaren drives

Jenson Button and Sergio Perez have no doubts that they will be at McLaren next year, despite neither having been officially confirmed

The delay in McLaren announcing its 2014 driver line-up has prompted speculation that the Woking-based team could be on the look out for another option.

AUTOSPORT understands McLaren has taken up its option to retain Button, and both drivers made it clear ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix that they would be staying for next year.

Perez said: "It is pretty much everything done, but the right thing to do is to ask Martin [Whitmarsh, team principal].

"We are having discussions. The contract is obviously done, but we are finalising the talks. I cannot give the details about that, but everything is pretty much done."

Button was less definitive on how far down the road his contract situation was, with McLaren expected to take up the one-year option it has.

He said: "I have got a good feeling I will be here next year. That is as much as I can say. I am happy that I will be in this team next year."

When asked about 2015, when Honda links up with McLaren, he said: "I don't know - and I can't really comment. I have a good feeling about that and the big H is very interesting for the future."
