Senna: No F1 deal signed yet

GP2 Series frontrunner Bruno Senna has told autosport.com that he has not yet signed any contract or option with a Formula One team for either the short or long-term

Senna, who is currently second in the GP2 standings, spoke out to quell media speculation that he has either signed a race deal with Scuderia Toro Rosso, a long-term option with BMW Sauber or a test deal with McLaren-Mercedes.

"There is absolutely nothing going on in terms of signing with anybody in F1," he told autosport.com.

On the subject of possible option deals, he added: "There's not even any negotiations in that sense. First, I still have to understand who has the best options for me to follow. Then we can start negotiating. But at the moment we're still seeking those best options."

Senna admitted that he and his management team are in discussions with nine of F1's teams about possible future roles.

"I'm doing all the things I have to do, chatting to the right people in the F1 paddock, and we'll see how it turns out," he said. "Let's say the only team I haven't spoken to at all is Ferrari. So there's no real logical place for me to go yet.

"We've spoken to many, many people about the best option in both the short and long terms. There's no point in doing something for next year and then having nothing for 2010 or 2011.

"It's a tough time now. It might look very good, because people are saying 'he's looking good in GP2 and he's obviously going to F1' but, really, where? How? I need to find a space...a good space."

The Brazilian said he would not rule out a testing role with a top team if a race seat for 2009 was unavailable.

"Obviously I'd consider it," he said. "At the moment I'm considering everything. Preferably a race drive would be a better option, because I don't want to stop racing for a whole year."

On the subject of whether winning the GP2 title was crucial if he was to proceed directly to an F1 race seat, Bruno said: "In my opinion it's important to deliver. Sometimes things don't go your way, but, trust me, I'll only give up [on the GP2 title] when I have no more chance to win. I'm pretty sure I can do a good job."
