Schumacher glad season is over

World Champion Michael Schumacher says that despite dominating Formula 1 this year to take his fourth title, he is glad the season is over

The German won the Japanese Grand Prix season finale last Sunday in typically dominant style to take his victory tally for the year to nine and Schumacher feels confident that the win will help to boost his Ferrari team as it heads into the off-season.

However, the Ferrari number one is welcoming the break, which runs right through until January due to the winter testing ban, with open arms.

"Obviously, it's marvellous to finish the season exactly the way I wanted," said Schumacher. "Winning on my own terms means we can go into the winter break in a positive frame of mind. But in some ways, I am happy the season is over, even if it was without a doubt, the best of my career. But a season like this one is pretty tiring."

Schumacher plans to spend as much time as possible at home in Switzerland with his family over the winter, but before that, the 32-year-old is taking part in the final round of the world kart championship at his home town of Kerpen in Germany at the end of the month.
