Michael Schumacher says he can still add to his tally of race wins this season, even if his hopes of an eighth Formula One World Championship have slipped away

The German recognises, however, that Sunday's Hungarian Grand Prix, a race he won last year to hand Ferrari an unprecedented sixth successive Constructors' Championship, may not be one of them.

"I think there is always an opportunity but lately the opportunities have decreased, quite frankly," the 36-year-old said on Thursday when asked about the chances of victory at the Hungaroring.

"But we still look forward to winning several more races this season, that's the main target that's left for us."

Schumacher is 40 points behind Renault's Fernando Alonso in the standings with seven races remaining.

Last year Schumacher was in a class of his own, chalking up a record 12th win of the season in what already seems like a different era.

"Last year we came here answering the question when we were going to win the Championship. This year it is the other way, when are we going to lose it?," said Schumacher.

The champion finished fifth at his home Grand Prix at Hockenheim last weekend and was sixth in the British Grand Prix before that.

He has not had a pole position since last year.

Teammate Rubens Barrichello, who joined Schumacher at a cooking demonstration in central Budapest organised by sponsor Vodafone, remained more upbeat about Ferrari's constructors' challenge.

The Brazilian said he felt Ferrari was still in the fight, although much would depend on Sunday's race.

Ferrari are third in the Championship, largely thanks to their 18-point haul from Indianapolis, with 78 points to Renault's 117.
