Schuey’s winning streak comes to an end
Michael Schumacher saw his six-race winning streak come to an end as he finished second to David Coulthard in Brazil
The Scot's win also ended a three-wet race winning streak for the German, ending his chances of beating his own record of five wet victories on the trot.
But the reigning world champion said he had no complaints about the way Juan Pablo Montoya dramatically forced his way past on the third lap - or David Coulthard dodged inside to take the lead on lap 50 on his way to victory.
This was nothing like the German's normally serene and triumphant race weekends of recent memory. As well as being overtaken twice, he spun twice in the rain while Coulthard failed to put a foot wrong.
"To be honest I would still not have won without those spins," said Schumacher. "Even without them you could see that David was faster than me and I wasn't able to follow him.
"To be honest he would have caught me later at some stage. I've no complaints about the way Juan Pablo overtook me - it was hard but fair - the way racing should be. I was hoping for the wet, but our strategy didn't work out this time," he added.
Schumacher said it was Tarso Marques' move into the middle of the circuit that cost him the lead.
"When I had to make the decision which way to go he was on the left, so going right was my only option. Then he moved over and I had to brake a little and David went down the inside."
The German's lead in the championship was cut from 10 points to six. He has 26 points and Coulthard has 20.
