Sauber: Imola Showed Our Limitations

Team boss Peter Sauber said the San Marino Grand Prix showed the limitations of the Swiss squad's 2003 car.

Team boss Peter Sauber said the San Marino Grand Prix showed the limitations of the Swiss squad's 2003 car.

"We are not surprised by the result of this race, but obviously we cannot be satisfied with it," said Sauber after the race. "It was the first regular race of the season, and it showed the limitations of the C22."

Both Nick Heidfeld and Heinz-Harald Frentzen went on to finish the fourth race of the season, but despite an almost trouble-free race, the Germans were unable to score any points. Heidfeld finished in 10th position while teammate Frentzen was 11th one lap down.

Frentzen was happy with his car's reliability, but claimed they needed more speed in order to fight for the points.

"We did our best today and I think we got the best out of the car, but too many of the front-runners were reliable," said Frentzen. "Our situation is a bit clearer now. The car is very reliable, but we need the things we have in the pipeline to improve it further."
