World Champion Michael Schumacher continued his good form as he set the fastest time in Saturday's first practice session for the Austrian Grand Prix to lead another Ferrari one-two at the A1-Ring.
German Schumacher, who claimed fastest time in qualifying on Friday despite a last corner mistake, set a time of 1:09.340 after surviving another minor off on the slippery circuit and led Rubens Barrichello by 0.114 seconds.
In clear and sunny conditions but with temperatures of just 10 degrees, the lead Ferrari was just less than half a second ahead of closest rival team BAR-Honda, whose Canadian driver Jacques Villeneuve was third.
Spaniard Fernando Alonso, who impressed in Spain at the last race but qualified only 13th fastest at the A1-Ring on Friday, returned to the sharp end of the timesheets to finish fourth for Renault.
German Nick Heidfeld was fifth for Sauber and Brazilian Antonio Pizzonia finally beat his Australian teammate Mark Webber - by two tenths of a second - as the Jaguar pair finished sixth and seventh.
Italian Giancarlo Fisichella, of Jordan, finished eighth but he was more than a second slower than the lead Ferrari with Italian Jarno Trulli ninth in the second Renault and German Heinz-Harald Frentzen tenth in the second Sauber.
The Grosser Kurve seemed to be a jinx for the drivers as Schumacher went off track there fifteen minutes into the session and Jos Verstappen's Minardi stopped there nine minutes later.
Briton Ralph Firman, of Jordan-Ford, also went off at the Grosser Kurve two minutes after Verstappen stopped and Toyota driver Cristiano da Matta also had a brief off at turn two.
