Salo fighting fit for Magny-Cours

Toyota's Mika Salo is raring to race in this weekend's French Grand Prix after recovering from the stomach infection that affected his free practice time at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone

Salo only completed one lap during the opening day of practice at Silverstone due to stomach pains, but was able to complete the rest of the weekend. After the event, Salo rested for a few days before testing at Monza last Thursday.

"By the time I got in the car again on Thursday at Monza, I was completely back to normal," he said.

The Finn believes that the Magny-Cours venue will suit his TF102 chassis because of its ultra-smooth track surface.

"The asphalt is incredibly smooth and that could play into our hands," he said. "The TF102 is sensitive to bumps, so the surface should make finding a set-up easier and make the car easier to drive.

"In terms of sectors, Magny-Cours is not dissimilar in its layout to Silverstone. There are some long, quick corners at the start of the lap before the track gradually tightens up towards the end. As at Silverstone, I expect us to be faster through the tighter corners in France at the back end of the lap," he added.
