Rosberg says no rift with Webber

Nico Rosberg has denied any problems with Williams teammate Mark Webber following their incident during qualifying for last weekend's Canadian Grand Prix

Webber was unhappy with Rosberg after the German driver had blocked him on his final run during the first part of qualifying at Montreal. As a consequence of the incident, Webber failed to set a competitive time and missed the cut, qualifying in 17th position.

"You can get traffic here and there but obviously its frustrating when it's your teammate who is cruising on the back straight," Webber told Britain's ITV television.

"It screws you into the last corner and loses you a lot of time...obviously Nico wasn't looking in his mirrors at all but that's the way it goes."

Rosberg said he had apologised to Webber and claimed there was no rift with the Australian.

"The new qualifying system has thrown up some controversial sessions so far this year with drivers being accused of holding each other up and using spoiling tactics," Rosberg wrote in his column on the Castrol website on Wednesday.

"Both myself and my teammate Mark Webber have been on the receiving end of such incidents already.

"Unfortunately on the Gilles Villeneuve circuit we were part of the same one. During the first session Mark was on his flying lap and I was on my out lap when he came up behind me.

"I was a fraction of a second too late moving out of his way, it cost him only around one and a half tenths of a second and he ended up qualifying back down the grid.

"It was really unfortunate, but in reality it wasn't as big an issue as some people outside of the team have made out. We've spoken about it since and I've said sorry."
