Ricardo Zonta Q&A (Updated)

After his guest appearance at Montreal as substitute for Heinz-Harald Frentzen, Ricardo Zonta now unexpectedly finds himself back in the seat of the number 11 Jordan. Although at this stage he has only been confirmed for Hockenheim, it seems likely that he will have the seat for the rest of the season. There are rumours, but no obvious replacements, and the lack of testing before the next race in Hungary means that there is no time to try out any other candidates. Zonta knows all the upcoming tracks, and has a good chance of picking up some priceless points, so the logical decision would be to leave him in the car. Adam Cooper spoke to the Brazilian

"I'm very happy. I got the news on Wednesday, and everything happened so quickly. I'm a little bit not confident because I didn't test and I wasn't planning to race here. Everything happened so quickly, and now I'm here. It's great for me."

"It's quite strange, also because it's Germany. But if I didn't take this opportunity someone else would. Because I'm driving I should be happy for myself."

"It's true in the tests you're always trying things for development, and also reliability. You never try new tyres with low fuel or something like this. When you get to a race weekend you try everything to find speed, so I hope I can balance the car and try to be quick."

"Of course it would be very nice if I had these races. We need to work for that."

"It's very good! On the full tanks we ran on Friday it felt very easy to drive."

"Yes. I feel very confident in the team. They give me very good support, and everything I need they did to help me. It's good to work with David Brown, he's a very good guy, so I'm very happy."

"Yes he is..."

"I lost a lot of time in the morning which would have been very useful for me to set the car up for qualifying. Then in qualifying with my first set of tyres Panis held me up in the stadium. After that I had some problems and I couldn't put all the sectors together."

"It's very disappointing, because this race is very important for me. I was expecting to qualify very close to Jarno, and the car had the potential to be close. On one of my runs I was going to be 0.5s faster, but at one of the chicanes I touched the kerb and the car jumped sideways, and I lost all my time. And this race is very important for my future."

"Everybody is very quick in the straight here, and it's very narrow as well. But you can overtake if you have the opportunity. I've just got go for it and try to fight a lot."

"I think so. I've had more time, but as I said I missed the practice this morning, which would have been very useful. In testing we never try qualifying set-ups, and it's a big difference."
