Renault's Bell: McLaren Underestimated Us

McLaren underestimated Renault in their battle for the Constructors' Championship, according to the French squad's technical director Bob Bell

Renault clinched the constructors' title despite McLaren winning six of the last seven races of the 2005 season.

The French team had also won the drivers' title thanks to Fernando Alonso, and the Spaniard's victory in the final race of the year in China secured both titles for Renault.

Bell believes 2004 champions Ferrari and rivals McLaren paid for their arrogance, an error he claims Renault won't make next year when they try to defend their titles.

"We can absolutely repeat our success in 2006," said Bell. "We have no intention of making the same errors as some other teams have made in the past. There is no arrogance about our position, and we never take anything for granted.

"I think that happened to Ferrari at the start of this season, while McLaren clearly underestimated us at the end.

"But that won't be our attitude next year. Our objectives will be set, and it will be a question of hard work to ensure we deliver them."
