Renault Duo on Top at Barcelona - Morning Session

Spaniard Fernando Alonso and Italian Jarno Trulli dominated the morning session of the first day of this week's testing at the Barcelona circuit in Spain.

Spaniard Fernando Alonso and Italian Jarno Trulli dominated the morning session of the first day of this week's testing at the Barcelona circuit in Spain.

Alonso was the quickest of the Renault duo, outpacing teammate Trulli by more than half a second on the day the French outfit introduced the new aerodynamic package for the start of the 2003 season. The new components were fitted only to one of the R23 cars, driven by Alonso.

Italian Giancarlo Fisichella and teammate Ralph Firman were in action for the Jordan team, who today unveiled their new livery for the 2003 season and who also tested for the first time with two cars on track this year.

Fisichella was the fastest of the two, outpacing Firman by more than a second after the Briton succumbed to a mechanical failure that halted the session. Scot Allan McNish was also in action at Barcelona in the third Renault.
