Red Bull to run F-duct again in Valencia

Red Bull Racing plans to wait until after practice in Valencia before deciding if its F-duct system is ready to race, despite giving the green light to test it once again at this weekend's European Grand Prix

The Milton Keynes-based outfit tried out its F-duct for the first time during practice in Turkey but, despite some encouraging initial results, it opted not to keep it on for qualifying and the race.

Having not raced it in Turkey the team decided against even trying it in practice in Canada, with technical chief Adrian Newey also choosing to stay back at base for the Montreal weekend to further optimise the system and finalise other improvements to the RB6.

The long straights and medium downforce levels of Valencia will be perfect for the straight line speed boost provided by the F-duct, which is why Red Bull Racing will test the concept once again.

Although the team is optimistic that improvements made to the design will help bring a step forward in performance for the car, a team spokeswoman confirmed that the outfit was open minded on the F-duct's application.

"We will evaluate it on Friday and then make a decision as to whether we race with it or not," she said.
