Red Bull, Jordan Wait on GPWC Decision

Jordan and Red Bull Racing have stated that they will not pick sides in the current war between the GPWC and Bernie Ecclestone over the commercial rights, and therefore the future, of Formula One.

Jordan and Red Bull Racing have stated that they will not pick sides in the current war between the GPWC and Bernie Ecclestone over the commercial rights, and therefore the future, of Formula One.

The GPWC made a presentation to every team bar Ferrari, who have committed to Ecclestone until 2012, last week. Sauber signed a memorandum of understanding with the GPWC over the weekend, with the other six teams signing immediately at the meeting.

Christian Horner, team principal for Red Bull Racing, was unprepared to align the team with either faction, telling The Guardian that he has circulated a note stating that the team were only committed to the current regime "until the end of 2007" when the current commercial agreement, as detailed in the Concorde Agreement, expires.

Trevor Carlin, new sporting director for Jordan, went a step further, noting: "We are considering both options. If we jump in now with GPWC we will have no clout or influence, so we will sit tight and wait and see.

"We may still have the Jordan name but the reality is that we are new kids on the block, and we certainly don't want to upset the Formula One applecart. We are enjoying being courted by both sides and don't feel that we are in a hurry to make a decision."
