Ralf Hoping for Better Luck in Italy

German Ralf Schumacher is confident he will be able to fight for the top positions at the upcoming Italian Grand Prix if he is aided by luck.

German Ralf Schumacher is confident he will be able to fight for the top positions at the upcoming Italian Grand Prix if he is aided by luck.

The Williams cars run well at high-speed tracks and Schumacher is expecting a good showing in the Italian race. Schumacher, who has taken three Grand Prix wins so far this season, is hoping for better fortune to come his way as he bids for glory.

The German was left stranded on the grid in the last race at Spa when his team decided to change a part of his rear wing, and in doing so ruined his race.

"With a little more luck than in Spa we should look fairly good in Italy," said Schumacher. "Monza is a similar track to Hockenheim so it should suit our car well."

Williams admitted that they are happy with their Michelin tyres after revealing fears over problems that the high speeds seen at Monza could create. The team spent time in their recent test making sure that the tyres could cope with the high speeds, and chief operations engineer Sam Michael believes the tyres will not encounter any problems.

"This is a critical circuit for tyre safety," said Michael. "For that reason, we have put a lot of time into testing the reliability of the tyre casing. At the last test we were happy with the tyre compounds and constructions that Michelin have given us."
