Raikkonen fastest as Bahrain test resumes
Ferrari and Toyota resumed testing in Bahrain today after a two-day break, with reigning champion Kimi Raikkonen again setting the fastest time
Raikkonen covered 66 laps during a day of trouble-free running on the 5.4km Sakhir circuit.
Felipe Massa's progress was halted by a hydraulic glitch midway through the afternoon, but he still completed 53 laps - the quickest of which was just over a tenth of a second slower than Raikkonen's benchmark.
Toyota took advantage of the warm weather (24 degrees Celsius air temperature and 34 degree track temperature) to test a revised cooling system, as well as evaluating set-ups and development parts, ahead of a race simulation tomorrow.
Jarno Trulli was the quicker of the Toyota pair, setting a best time just under half a second quicker than his rookie team mate Timo Glock.
The team's chief race and test engineer Dieter Gass said: "We've had another productive day. We came to Bahrain for the warm weather, not only to be sure of a full day of testing but also to look at the cooling on the new car, which is different to the TF107."
Glock added: "The track was a little dusty this morning but apart from that we had very good conditions.
"We are continuing to make progress with understanding the car, and understanding the effect of different set-up changes. I'm pretty pleased with how things have gone so far."
Both teams will continue their programmes at Sakhir tomorrow.
