Raikkonen adamant engine woes are behind

Kimi Raikkonen is confident Ferrari have solved their engine problems following two costly failures in the last two races

Brazilian Felipe Massa lost his engine while leading the Hungarian Grand Prix, and then Raikkonen suffered the same problem at the European Grand Prix just two weeks later.

But Raikkonen is adamant that problem has been fixed and he is hopeful he will have a trouble-free weekend this time out.

"I think we know what was the problem and it is more or less the same issue with Felipe's engine," Raikkonen told a news conference at Spa.

"It can happen again but I am sure they have fixed the problem and we should be fine."

The world champion admitted, however, that he is still working on getting back to form following a series of disappointing races.

And the Finn warned that it was too early to make predictions for the race at Spa despite feeling that he had made progress in the last test at Monza.

"Definitely it has not been what we wanted so there has been a problem, but it is not the first time and it is not the end of life," said Raikkonen.

"We have been trying to fix them and hopefully we have found something now so we can get back where we should be. Things go wrong, you have bad races, but hopefully we can have a strong weekend and get back.

"We are trying many things and I'm being happy with the car, but you never know with testing. It can be good, then the next circuit with different conditions gets you back to where you were. It is too early to say. We had a good feeling for the test and we will see now."

Raikkonen admitted he would not be surprised if he had to help teammate Massa win the title if the Brazilian continues to be the stronger driver, but he is hopeful he can stay in the title fight until the end.

"It can happen, it all depends how the next races probably go, where we are at the end of the year. But we race at the team, hopefully we will be in the championship until the last races and we will go for there."
