1300BST: Qualifying for tomorrow's British Grand Prix gets underway at warm, sunny Silverstone.

1303BST: Luca Badoer (Minardi) and Pedro Diniz (Prost) are the first cars out. Diniz records a time of 1.27.789.

1305BST: Alex Zanardi, Giancarlo Fisichella, Jacques Villeneuve and Johnny Herbert are out.

1306BST: Villeneuve leads Diniz, followed by Zanardi.

1307BST: Hill comes out to start possibly his final ever F1 qualifying session. Herbert moves up to second.

1310BST: Hill sets quickest time to move ahead of Villeneuve. Eddie Irvine on a fast lap.

1311BST: Rubens Barrichello leads, but is then beaten by Irvine. Alexander Wurz and Jean Alesi leave the pits for the first time.

1314BST: Top six: Irvine, Barrichello, Hill, R Schumacher, Villenueve, Diniz. Ferrari's Michael Schumacher and Jordan's Heinz-Harald Frentzen out onto circuit.
