Proud Todt Celebrates Ferrari's 150th Win

Sporting director Jean Todt admitted his delight at Michael Schumacher's 40th win at Ferrari and his team's 150th Grand Prix victory, and insisted he was proud of how the Italian squad have progressed since he joined the team.

Sporting director Jean Todt admitted his delight at Michael Schumacher's 40th win at Ferrari and his team's 150th Grand Prix victory, and insisted he was proud of how the Italian squad have progressed since he joined the team.

When asked about the statistics following Schumacher's sixth win of the season in Montreal, Todt said he was delighted with the level of achievement since himself, Schumacher and the likes of Ross Brawn linked up at the Italian team.

"Yes, they are important figures, confirming the quality of Ferrari," Todt said. "I think it's great for Ferrari but for me, I must say I'm a bit selfish as what matters more is what we have been building together since I joined Ferrari.

"Of course I love Ferrari from the past, because I think if you have the passion of motor racing you love Ferrari, or you don't have the passion of motor racing if you don't love Ferrari as certain people do.

"So in a way I'm very proud to be the head of the Ferrari team, but I'm more involved (emotionally) with the part of the time that I've been spending since I joined Ferrari."

Todt also told of his satisfaction after his team avoided a repeat of last year's race, when Ralf Schumacher and Williams performed better than Ferrari during the race weekend.

He said: "You know I think it's very pleasing when you can dominate the race successfully. The biggest satisfaction was when we realised how competitive our car was, all the Championship, not just one race compared to last year.

"Saying that, I still think we were very competitive last year. We had an outstanding season, so you cannot be very arrogant and pretend that we have to win all the races - otherwise it's a disappointment."
