Poor Weather Hampers Sauber At Imola

Poor weather caused problems for Sauber on day two of their three day test at Imola on Sunday, as rain and then snow led to minimal running during the day.

The weather conditions meant that Jacques Villeneuve only completed nine laps, while teammate Felipe Massa only managed to complete a single installation lap before the team decided to call it a day. No times were issued.

"Originally we had planned for Felipe to test Michelin tyres for the Imola race in April, and Jacques was supposed to run a race simulation. However, due to the bad weather conditions and in consequence the cold track surface the tyres didn't reach the necessary operation temperature. Under these circumstances testing had been too dangerous and moreover pointless. We will see tomorrow morning if the weather and track conditions will allow us to complete our test," said Sauber chief race engineer Jacky Eeckelaert.

"Nonetheless we are happy that we didn't have this situation yesterday already, but that we were able to run a lot of laps to gather valuable data."

Sauber will complete their test at Imola later today.
