Pollock 'happy' after BAR reshuffle

The Scot, who will continue his role as managing director stated: 'I am more than happy to relinquish the title of chairman of the Holdings Company as there was inevitably some conflict of interest between my two roles.

'It is comforting to know that the board has continuing faith in the overall direction of the team.'

Co-director Adrian Reynard will also stay on as technical director.

'I will continue to be 'technical guru' to the team,' he said. 'I think that probably best describes what I do.'

As part of the reshuffle, Don Brown becomes non-executive chairman of the Holdings Company, while Rick Gorne - who founded BAR alongside Pollock and Reynard - assumes the role of motorsport development director.

'My role is purely non-executive on the Holdings Company board,' stated Brown, who is also chairman and ceo of Imperial Tobacco in Canada.

'The board felt it was important to have a chairman who had no executive involvement in the operation of the team and could therefore act in the best interests of the company as a whole.

'Taking on this role allows Craig, Adrian and the management team to focus completely on the challenging mandate of directing a successful Formula One team.'

Gorne will now be responsible for investigating options for developing British American Racing over the longer term.

He will continue to play an active role on both the Holdings Company and Operating Company boards.

'My role is a continually evolving one that is linked directly to the way British American Racing has grown and developed,' Gorne said.

'Having spent the first year helping build the team from scratch, I then took on the role of race operations director, which allowed me to assist in developing and honing the race and test teams.'

'With that now in place, we need to look further ahead and start to plan for our long-term future.'
