Pizzonia confirmed at Williams

Brazilian driver Antonio Pizzonia has been confirmed by WilliamsF1 as an official test driver for the team throughout 2004

The Brazilian has played a major part in the Williams team's heavy pre-season testing programme in recent weeks and even announced to the press in late January that he expected to secure a place with the Williams test crew alongside Marc Gene for this year.

Pizzonia was dropped from Jaguar Racing following the British Grand Prix last year after a string of disappointing performances, but prior to that was an official Williams test driver during the 2002 season. Indeed it was Williams that gave the Brazilian his first test in an F1 car and key figures within the team were quick to come to his defence when Pizzonia was dropped from Jaguar's race team.

"It feels great to be back working with everyone at the BMW WilliamsF1 Team," said Pizzonia. "My long term future in Formula 1 is as a race driver, but my aim for this year is to do everything I can as a test driver to help the team win the world championship.
