Montoya in the clear
Juan Pablo Montoya has escaped any sanctioning from the governing body over utterances made in the media after the last two grands prix
Montoya questioned the sanity of his drive-through penalty in Malaysia after contact with Michael Schumacher at the first corner, accusing FIA stewards of lacking consistency and claiming that his punishment was a reaction to the lack of action surrounding the Australian first corner shunt.
When he further vented his annoyance after the opening lap collision with Schumacher at Interlagos, many considered that the FIA may look at charges of bringing the sport into disrepute.
FIA president Max Mosley, however, commented: "We try not to get involved unless someone really tries to damage the sport. We've only had two instances of that during my presidency.
"People should be free to express an opinion and a dissenting voice. I have to say that sometimes I don't agree with the stewards but it's not quite politic for me to say so!
"These sorts of disagreements are all part of world level sport. If you have characters involved as well as a large group of media, then inevitably you are going to get this kind of thing reported."
