Montoya: Hungary a weekend to forget

Juan Pablo Montoya has labelled the Hungarian Grand Prix as a weekend to forget after struggling to get on the pace at the twisty Hungaroroing circuit and finishing a lowly eighth in Sunday's race

Montoya managed to salvage eighth place in qualifying and after struggling with the handling of his Williams-BMW, the Colombian found himself in the same position when the chequered flag was waved at the end of the race.

"This was one of those weekends when nothing really worked for us," said Montoya. "The car felt bad from the beginning to the end of the race, but I was determined to finish as the boys had worked so hard for me. What can I say? Just a weekend to forget I think."

The Colombian's team mate Ralf Schumacher managed to hold off McLaren's Mika Hakkinen for fourth place, but it wasn't the top spot the German Grand Prix winner has become accustomed to.

The Grove-based team's technical director Patrick head added: "From our viewpoint we were never quite on the pace this weekend. Ralf made the best job with the equipment he had to get his fourth, as the three people in front of him were the ones that qualified in front of him.

"Juan Pablo had handling difficulties throughout the race, but in truth this just wasn't a good weekend for him and his car."

Williams are battling McLaren-Mercedes for the runners-up spot in the constructors' championship behind Ferrari, but it trails them by 13 points with four rounds remaining. At least two of those circuits - Monza and Japan - should suit the superior power of the Williams-BMW package.
