Montoya feeling optimistic

Williams' decision to introduced a significantly revised car for the Canadian GP was vindicated after a strong performance in free practice yielded second and fifth positions for Juan Pablo Montoya and Ralf Schumacher

Both drivers were very happy with their cars and Montoya believes that a repeat of last year's race, which Ralf won, could be on the cards this Sunday.

"I feel that we are going to have a strong weekend here," he said, despite suffering a minor problem when the engine was fired up at the start of the second session. "The Michelin tyres look strong again and we know we've got a powerful engine. It will be a challenge tomorrow and in the race as the margin between the teams at the top is very tight."

Schumacher was half a second slower than his team-mate, but has the same confidence of a competitive performance.

"I am very pleased with the car," he said. "The balance is good even though there is room for improvement. I think that tomorrow we should be aiming for a place on the front two rows."
